The Montgomery County Planning Board Invites You to Attend a Workshop on Zoning for Solar Facilities

THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY PLANNING BOARD INVITES YOU TO ATTEND A WORKSHOP ON ZONING FOR SOLAR FACILITIES

THURSDAY, JANUARY 28, 2016 AT 6:30 PM
ROOM 111 OF THE COUNTY ANNEX BUILDING -- 20 PARK STREET FONDA

Purpose of the meeting

Commercial solar companies are increasingly approaching many municipalities in Montgomery County regarding the installation of sizable solar facilities. Some of this demand for construction of large-scale photo voltaic arrays is being driven by pending changes in federal tax law. Unfortunately, the land-use regulations of many municipalities in the County do not adequately address zoning for solar installations. The Montgomery County Planning Board wishes to provide its assistance to local governments and local planning boards regarding zoning for solar facilities. At this time, the focus must be accorded to larger, commercial solar installations versus small scale installations intended to serve a single business or residence. Amanda Bearcroft, Senior Planner/GIS for Montgomery County will be the primary presenter. She will utilize a recently developed solar ordinance for the Town of Florida as a basis for discussion.

  • Site requirements including maximum height, setback and lot coverage
  • Visual screening
