Welcome to the Montgomery County Purchasing Department

The Montgomery County Purchasing Department represents the County in all purchasing transactions. Materials, supplies, equipment and services are procured according to the Laws of the State of New York and procedures established by the Board of Supervisors.

The department determines the best method of procurement, obtains competitive price quotes, evaluates products and services for cost-effectiveness, seeks new sources of supply to increase competition, and ensures that funds are available before a purchase is made.

The department issues formal Competitive Bids for products to be procured after developing product specifications and Requests for Proposals for services to be provided to the County after investigating the County's requirements.

The Department is also responsible for maintaining the County's Fixed Asset Inventory and the disposition of the County's surplus personal property through auctions or bid process.
