The Montgomery County Business Development Center has been awarded $250,000 by the Governor's Office for Small Cities through the 2006 State Disaster Relief Program Temporary Housing Assistance Grant to provide much needed assistance to Montgomery County residents affected by the June 26, 2006 to July 2, 2006 flooding.
The Montgomery County Disaster Relief Grant Program is intended to provide funds to flood victims for the purchase of basic furniture and food, to offset utility costs, and to provide rental assistance. Basic furniture purchases include beds, couches, chairs, dining table and chairs. Qualified applicants to the grant program may receive a maximum of $2,500 per household.
Residents affected by the flooding in the Towns of Canajoharie, Glen, Minden, Mohawk, Palatine Bridge, Root, and St. Johnsville are eligible to apply for this program. Applications are available at the office of the Town/Village clerk in the Towns of Canajoharie, Glen, Minden, Mohawk, Palatine Bridge, Root, and St. Johnsville, the Villages of Canajoharie, Fonda, Fort Plain, Fultonville, Nelliston, Palatine Bridge, and St. Johnsville, and at the Montgomery County Business Development Center Offices in Fonda. Completed applications and supporting documentation must be submitted to the Montgomery County Business Development Center Offices located at 9 Park Street, Fonda, no later than December 1st, 2006. Funds are limited, so please do not delay application submissions.
