Montgomery County Pioneers in AI and Digitization at NYSAC 2024 Legislative Conference
FONDA– The Office of County Executive Matthew L. Ossenfort is thrilled to announce its groundbreaking advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and digitization, prominently featured at the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) 2024 Legislative Conference.
In an executive session that captured the attention of county leaders statewide, Montgomery County showcased its innovative efforts in AI and digital transformation, spearheaded by Chris Dancy of CMFD Digital. Dancy, renowned as the world's most connected person, has brought his extensive experience from consulting for major corporations such as Coca-Cola, Google, and Microsoft, to the heart of Montgomery County.
Since relocating to Montgomery County two years ago, Dancy has been at the forefront of developing AI and low-code systems designed to enhance community life. From improving operations in the village to digitizing the local agricultural market for the annual Farm to Table Tour, his initiatives have significantly impacted the community. This collaboration with County Executive Ossenfort has led to pioneering leadership training in "Constitutional AI," promoting value-based AI systems, alongside low-code development training within critical county departments such as health and law enforcement.
The transformation has been profound. Through these initiatives, the Montgomery County Health Department, led by Sara Boerenko, now benefits from a streamlined overview of events, while Sheriff Jeff Smith has introduced a bi-weekly podcast powered by AI. "The transformation in my departments has been amazing, and we achieved it with our existing personnel, overcoming the obstacles traditionally presented by IT," stated Ossenfort.
Sheriff Jeff Smith praised Dancy's practical approach to technology and AI, noting significant improvements in department operations. This success story, presented at the NYSAC Legislative Conference, has sparked interest among other counties in New York State, keen on replicating Montgomery County's success.
NYSAC’s Ryan Gregoire said of the efforts “You have done incredible work in Montgomery County to benefit their work and the impact the county has on their residents.”
Looking ahead, County Executive Ossenfort's "State of the County" address on April 11, 2024, will further highlight the exciting technological advancements and collaborations within the county. As Chris Dancy eloquently stated, "A.I. isn't just about writing emails. It's about extending our identity as citizens into the technology we use every day."
Montgomery County's journey with AI and digitization is not just about technology; it's a testament to the power of community collaboration, innovation, and forward-thinking leadership.
