VISIT MONTGOMERY COUNTY PARTNERING WITH THE AMSTERDAM PBA FOR THE 10TH ANNUAL “COPS & JOGGERS” RUN
Event Will Feature Both 5K and 10K Race

(AMSTERDAM, NY) – Held annually, “Cops and Joggers” has become a must-participate race for area running enthusiasts. To help build the event’s following and attract new participants, Visit Montgomery County has partnered with the Amsterdam PBA to co-host this year’s race, which will also feature a new 10K course along with the traditional 5K route.

Being held on Saturday, September 9, both races will kick off from Riverlink Park at 9:30 a.m. This year’s racecourse will cross the Mohawk Valley Gateway Overlook Bridge and travel westbound along the Erie Canalway Trail, before returning to Riverlink Park.

“Cops and Joggers is one of those events that people look forward to every year,” said Montgomery County Executive Matthew L. Ossenfort.

“It’s a great event and our county tourism team is excited to be working with the Amsterdam PBA to make it even bigger and better. We are looking forward to growing the participation and bringing in new runners from beyond our community who will get to see what a fabulous resources Riverlink Park and the Erie Canalway Trail are for those looking to enjoy some time outdoors. I can’t wait to be there cheering on all the runners,” Ossenfort said.

"I'm excited that we partnered with Montgomery County Tourism for the Cops and Joggers 5K this year,” said President of the Amsterdam PBA Aj Fiorillo. “We enjoy and always look forward to putting this race on every year as it is a great community event. Our goal is to make the event bigger and better and this partnership will certainly do that."

The entry fee for this year’s race is $25 for the 5K and $35 for the 10K and all registrations completed by August 25 are guaranteed a custom designed shirt. Participants can register online at https://bit.ly/CopsJoggers2023. Check-in for the race will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 9. All pre-registered runners will receive a bib with chip timing. Registrants who sign up after August 31 will receive bibs with chip timing while supplies last. A water stop will be available along the racecourse (race route) and post-race refreshments will be available. Awards will be presented to the top three finishers, male and female, in each age group, broken down into ten-year increments.

Proceeds from the race to benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center of Montgomery County.

While the lot at the Riverfront Center will be available for parking, participants and spectators are encouraged to park on the south side of the river and use the Gateway Overlook Bridge to access Riverlink Park.
