County Assists Efforts, Executive Hopeful Mass Clinics will Eliminate Waitlist
FONDA—Montgomery County Executive Matthew L. Ossenfort announced today that the Montgomery County Office for Aging Inc. has partnered with AgingNY and Kinney Drugs to vaccinate 4,000 seniors during the month of March.
“I’m so thankful to Kinney Drugs, AgingNY, as well as Dave and his team at the OFA for taking on this effort,” said Ossenfort. “We are working together to ensure that we register every senior in Montgomery County still waiting for a vaccine.”
Ossenfort said four, 1,000 dose clinics are being planned. Two in the Amsterdam area and two in the village of St. Johnsville. Details regarding the exact locations are forthcoming. However, Ossenfort said the first of the four clinics is expected to be held at the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Department on March 16. Montgomery County Public Health will continue to dispense its weekly vaccine allotments provided by New York State.
Individuals over the age of 65 still interested in being vaccinated will need to contact the OFA at 518-843-2300. Seniors who have signed-up via the Montgomery County COVID19 Waitlist Hotline will be contacted and referred to the OFA for registration.
Seniors are required to have their Medicare Part B and insurance information available upon registering with the OFA.
“The Montgomery County Office for Aging, Inc. is excited to partner with AgingNY and Kinney Drugs to help bring such a valuable resource to the older adults throughout Montgomery County,” said Montgomery County Office for Aging Inc. Executive Director David Jordan. “With the older adults in our county having had such difficulty in trying to get registered to receive the vaccine locally thus far, this is a valuable opportunity for our older citizens to be vaccinated without having to wait for months or having to travel out of the area. I hope everyone can take full advantage of this unique opportunity.”
“I’m hopeful that we can diminish the names still left on our waitlist by the end of March,” said Ossenfort.
