The District Attorney represents the County's interests in criminal cases, as well as providing legal counsel to County departments in criminal matters.
District Attorney: Hon. Kelli P. McCoski
District Attorney McCoski first joined the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office in February, 2008 as an Assistant District Attorney and was appointed DWI prosecutor under then District Attorney James E. Conboy. District Attorney McCoski was also appointed Assistant District Attorney in Fulton County by then District Attorney Louise K. Sira in 2008, until being elected to her current term as Montgomery County District Attorney on November 8, 2016.
District Attorney McCoski is a lifelong resident of Montgomery County. She graduated from the former Perth Central High School in 1979, Manhattanville College in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and the University of Bridgeport School of Law (now Quinnipiac Law School) in 1985 with a Jurisdoctor Degree. Upon admission to the New York State Bar in 1986 she formed a partnership with the late Richard A. Insogna, Esq. In Amsterdam and thereafter became the Assistant County Attorney for Montgomery County in 1988 and County Attorney for Montgomery County in 1988 until 1998; Department of Social Services Attorney for Montgomery County in 1998 until 2002; Assistant Montgomery County Public Defender from 2002 to 2008.
