Montgomery County Broadband Technical Assistance (BTA) Initiative

A county-led planning effort to expand access to fast, reliable, and affordable internet throughout Montgomery County, supported by state and federal broadband programs.

Montgomery County is conducting a planning initiative to ensure that all residents, businesses, and community institutions have access to reliable, high-speed internet. Funded through a grant from the New York State ConnectALL Office, this project will assess current broadband infrastructure, identify unserved and underserved areas, and develop practical, community-informed strategies to address access gaps.

The project aims to support long-term digital equity, expand economic and educational opportunity, and ensure that all communities, especially rural and disadvantaged areas, can fully participate in today's digital world. This planning process will result in detailed network design options, cost estimates, and funding strategies to prepare the County for future broadband investments.

This effort began in August 2025 and will conclude in Spring 2026. Community input is essential to shaping the plan, and residents are encouraged to participate through public surveys, forums, and local outreach.

How to Get Involved:

Your input is essential to the success of this project.

Montgomery County is working to ensure that every resident, business, and community institution has access to fast, reliable, and affordable internet. But we need your help. The best way to understand where broadband access is lacking, and how to improve it, is by hearing directly from the people who live and work here.

Whether you live in a rural area with no service, struggle with dropped connections, or have ideas for improving digital access in your community, your voice matters.

  • Countywide Broadband Survey

This short survey helps us identify areas of Montgomery County where internet service is slow, unavailable, too expensive, or unreliable. Your responses will directly inform where the County should focus resources and funding in the future.

  • Public Forums & Outreach

We'll be hosting community forums throughout the county to share progress and gather input. Locations and dates will be posted here and on town websites.

If you'd like us to attend an event in your town (e.g., a comp plan meeting or board meeting), please let us know!
