RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING COUNTY EXECUTIVE TO SIGN LEASE AGREEMENT - IBM/Corning Data (DATA PROCESSING)

WHEREAS, the County will need continued mainframe vendor upgrading and support; and

WHEREAS, the County will be reducing from our current two servers down to one new updated server and leasing all maintenance and support for that machine and the software that resides on it; and

WHEREAS, the Data Processing Director recommends continued leasing and upgrading of the County mainframe from which the majority of County departments access and utilize programs for their everyday electronic needs.

RESOLVED, the County Executive, upon review and approval of the County Attorney, is hereby authorized and directed to sign a lease agreement with Corning Data and IBM for the provision of mainframe computer for a period of 3 years in an amount not to exceed $35,000 for the term of the lease.

Statement of Legislative and Financial Impact:

I. Nature of Request:

Authorize the County to enter a three year lease with Corning Data Solutions & IBM for support and maintenance on our AS/400 server. The County will be reducing from our current two servers down to one new updated server and leasing all maintenance and support for that machine and the software that resides on it.

II. Justification:

The AS/400 is an extremely important machine that houses all of the County's systems for payroll, budget, purchasing and other financial applications. This lease ensures maintenance and support.

III. Legislative Impact:

Pursuant to Article 3 of the Charter the Montgomery County Executive has the authority to sign contracts.

IV. Financial Impact:
