Mohawk Valley Regional Economic Development Council Awarded $100.3 Million

Thirteen Projects In Montgomery County Receive Funding From Consolidated Funding Application Process

FONDA - The Mohawk Valley was awarded $100.3 million, on Thursday, and was noted as a top performer at the Regional Economic Development Council awards, in Albany. The award was the most money received out of the regions that were not selected as one of the three $500 million winners of the Governor's Upstate Revitalization Initiative (URI).

"Being named a top performer and awarded with more than $100 million will ensure the Mohawk Valley will continue forward on a path towards economic revitalization," said County Executive Matthew L. Ossenfort. "I commend our Mohawk Valley team for putting together a proposal that had a clear vision and goals for the future of the region. I look forward to working with those in Montgomery County on the projects that did receive funding through the Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) process, as well as continuing our collaborative efforts with the other five counties in our region."

"All of our proposed Economic Development Priority Projects were funded," noted Economic Development Director Ken Rose. "There were five of these, which included the Global Village at Fulton- Montgomery Community College, Nathan Littauer Primary Care facility in the Village of Fonda, Mair Magaw Information Systems, AGT Services expansion project and Memory Lane Daycare in Amsterdam. Of the $100.3 million awarded to the Mohawk Valley region, there was approximately $42.2 million in grant awards. From those grant dollars, Montgomery County received approximately $7.9 million, roughly 19 percent for our six-county region."

Ossenfort was pleased with the county's overall CFA funding level and particularly thankful to receive $300,000 for the Bike Trail Restoration Project, a key recreational and quality of life priority project for county residents.
