Event Brings Statewide Focus & Attention To Montgomery County, Mohawk Valley
FONDA - County Executive Matthew L. Ossenfort was one of the Mohawk Valley leaders who helped welcome Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and his cabinet to the Mohawk Valley, on Thursday, Aug 20. The Governor was hosting his Capital for a Day initiative, with events in Montgomery, Oneida, Otsego, Herkimer and Fulton counties.
"The attention and focus being paid to Montgomery County and the Mohawk Valley on a day like this is substantial," Ossenfort said. "We need to have our priorities heard at the state level and we must make sure we are incorporated in the overall plan to move people forward. This region has many strengths and it's important to market those as passionately and as often as we possibly can."
The Capital for a Day initiative brings the top leadership and cabinet members to a region in the state for a day to provide an opportunity for state government to interact with local officials and communities. The Capital for a Day was started last month in Rochester, as an effort to bring government directly to the people and try to foster better cooperation between state and local governments.
