The Montgomery County Department of History & Archives will be having an open house on Friday, October 26, 2007 from 10am to 3pm at the Old Courthouse in Fonda. Visitors will be given tours of the department's genealogy and history research library. They will also have the opportunity to sign up for various activities for which the department is seeking volunteers including setting up exhibits using department collections, transcribing church records, assisting with archival records, etc.
"For anyone with a love of local history or genealogy, this is the place to demonstrate that affection," says County Historian and Records Management Officer, Kelly Yacobucci Farquhar.
