Former Beech-Nut Plant – Western Plant
Environmental Cleaning, Asbestos Abatement, and Bridge Removal 

Description:

The work shall consist of facility cleaning, the removal, transportation, and disposal/recycling of all asbestos-containing materials, hazardous wastes, and universal waste and select interior demolition of the Western Plant indicated in the Contract drawings and specifications or as directed by Montgomery County. All asbestos-containing materials, hazardous and specialty regulated materials for removal and disposal will be included in this scope of work unless a specific item is otherwise identified for disposal/recycling elsewhere in the specifications. In general, demolition shall include removal and off-site disposal of all interior features (as identified on Contract Drawings), fixtures, furnishings, piping, lighting, mechanical systems, electrical systems, building content, debris, appurtenances and other features. In addition, removal of three bridges as identified in the Contract Drawings is included. The Contractor is responsible for the legal disposal of all material removed from the site.

Pre-Bid Meeting: 

A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the Beech-Nut Plant at the entrance off Church Street between Erie Boulevard and Incinerator Road. All representatives are required to arrive on-site with a hard hat, safety glasses, construction boots, and an operating flashlight. Safety equipment is required to be utilized during the walkthrough by all bidders. Safety equipment will not be provided by the Owner.

Contract Documents: 

Contract Documents may be viewed and ordered through the Avalon Plan Room at: www.avalonbuff-planroom.com in the “Public Jobs” section. If internet access is not available or if there are questions on ordering from the site, please contact Avalon Document Services at (716) 995-7777.

A digital download of the Project Documents is available with a non-refundable payment of $10.00, payable to Avalon Document Services. Cash payments will not be accepted. Bidders acknowledge that they are responsible for review of all components of the Contract Documents, including all specification sections and drawings, regardless of how many drawings they print and in which format/size they are printed. Full-size drawings are on 24-inch by 36-inch paper.

If bidders wish to purchase printed copies of the Contract Documents, they may be obtained through Avalon. A non-refundable payment of $90.00, payable to Avalon Document Services, will be required to obtain a printed Project Manual, Contract Documents and Historical Documents on compact disc (CD). Cash payments will not be accepted. The payment does not include shipping of the Project Manual and Contract Drawings. The bidder shall pay a separate shipping cost directly to Avalon.

Planholder: Only official Planholders are eligible to bid on the Project. Subcontractors, suppliers, equipment vendors, etc. will also be required to submit the non-refundable payment in order to receive the Project Manual and Contract Documents.
