County Exit 29 RFQ Steering Committee Selects LiRo Engineers Inc.

Firm Hired to Perform Professional Engineering Services at Exit 29 Redevelopment Site

FONDA - County officials have selected LiRo Engineers Inc. to perform professional engineering services at the Exit 29 Redevelopment site after interviewing multiple applicants.

LiRo Engineers will act as the County's on-site representative and directly monitor the activities of all personnel and subcontractors as necessary to perform and complete demolition of the site. The engineering team will be responsible for updating the asbestos/hazardous waste assessment, preparation of plans, specifications, bid documents and construction inspection for asbestos abatement.

The Montgomery County Exit 29 Request for Qualifications (RFQ) Steering Committee selected LiRo because of their qualifications. Included on their impressive resume was the demolition and abatement of the 800,000 square-foot former Spaulding Fibre Site in Tonawanda, which is very similar to the former Beech-Nut facility.

"Our team was very thorough while reviewing the RFQ's submitted for this project," Montgomery County Executive Matthew L. Ossenfort said. "LiRo seemed like the best fit due to their experience and success with completing projects of a similar scale to the Exit 29 Redevelopment site," Ossenfort continued. "I'm excited we've completed this next step."

"LiRo has extensive experience," Montgomery County Business Development Center CEO Kenneth Rose said. "This firm is familiar with the many State agencies that will be involved with this project and I'm confident in their skill set," Rose continued.

"The village and I feel after all the interviews that these people gave an excellent presentation," Canajoharie Mayor Francis E. Avery said. "We are very comfortable with the selection of this firm and we feel they will do an excellent job."
