Montgomery County Healthy Me! mobile app provides resources for children and teens with special healthcare needs

The Montgomery County Health Department has created a mobile app called “Montgomery County Healthy Me!” This mobile app provides resources important for children and teens with special healthcare needs, and is available free of charge from the iPhone and Android app stores.

The Montgomery County Health Department saw the need for an innovative way to make parents, educators, and service providers aware of important resources in the community on a variety of topics surrounding health care, education, and community services.

One of the app’s key features is the Health Care topic. The public is encouraged to download the app to find contacts for:

• Health Care
• Pregnancy testing, information, classes, and health care
• Adoption Services
• Breastfeeding information and support
• HIV/AIDS/STDs education, information and referral

Additional features include Counseling Services, Special Education, and Educational Alternatives. Download the app to also find information on Financial Assistance, Community Programs, and Helpful Links.

Through the app, the health department will send out important and timely alerts/push notifications to the public. To better engage the community, anyone with the app can use the "Share our App" feature to forward alerts and download links to friends, family, and neighbors.

"Technology is evolving," said Sara Boerenko, Public Health Director for Montgomery County. "We are evolving our services to our community, and can now provide these resources to the public in a very innovative way through the Healthy Me! mobile app. We are keeping pace with communications in a day when near to 80% of persons in our community are using smartphones. Parents, educators, and critical service providers should download this app, and share it with your contacts. The Montgomery County Health Department has the health and wellbeing of our community at our heart, and our mobile app will help us to be even more effective in that mission."

Montgomery County’s Healthy Me! mobile app was created by OCV, LLC, which specializes in mobile app development for government offices on the state, county, and local level. With more 200 apps in the app stores, OCV also develops apps for sheriff’s offices, emergency management, police departments, municipalities, schools, religious organizations and non-profits. OCV,LLC also created the Montgomery County EMO mobile app, available for free from the app stores.
