Village of Hagaman

The Village of Hagaman is located in the northeast section of Montgomery County. It is located near the east-west geographic center of the Town of Amsterdam along the Chuctanunda Creek. It has an area of 988.8 acres. It is also near the geographic center of New York State with excellent traffic ways such as the New York State Thruway, Routes 30, 5, and 67. Amtrak and the NYS Barge canal are minutes from the Village creating easy access to much of the northeast. The State Capital of Albany is less than 30 miles to the southeast, Historic Saratoga Springs is approximately 25 miles to the northeast. The Adirondack Park regions and the Great Sacandaga Lake are less than 15 miles to the north. The cities of Johnstown and Gloversville lie 10 miles to the northwest and the City of Amsterdam is less than 3 miles southeast of the Village.

The Village of Hagaman is governed by a Board of Trustees which is composed of four (4) trustees and a mayor. There is also a Planning Board and a Zoning Board of Appeals. The Village has adopted subdivision regulations, zoning regulations and site plan review. Actions by the Planning Board and the Village Board of Trustees are to preserve elements of the scenic and historical heritage of the community for future generations. Adoption of Capital Improvement Programs by the Village Board and of Village Land Development Plans by the Planning Board serves as long-range guides for orderly development in the Village.
