RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING COUNTY EXECUTIVE TO SIGN CONTRACT FOR DISTRIBUTION OF OPIOID SETTLEMENT FUNDS TO OPPENHEIM-EPHRATAH-ST. JOHNSVILLE CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT (OESJ)(Mental Health)

WHEREAS, the Montgomery County Mental Health Department has been awarded $96,932 in opioid settlement funds for the fiscal year of January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025, from OASAS; and

WHEREAS, the Mental Health Director recommends using these funds for the support of the Sweethearts & Heroes Program at Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville CSD; and

WHEREAS, this program designed to empower students and promote positive change for students facing mental health challenges, suicide, and substance abuse issues within their community.

RESOLVED, that the County Executive upon review and approval of the County Attorney is authorized to sign and execute a contract with Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville CSD fort he Sweethearts & Heroes Program for the fiscal year of January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025.

Statement of Legislative and Financial Impact:

I. Nature of Request:

Execution of contract awarding opioid settlment funds for calendar year 2025.

II. Justification:

Opioid settlement award funds awarded for use within community for substance abuse education and prevention.

III. Legislative Impact:

Pursuant to Article 3 of the Charter, the Montgomery County Executive has the authority to sign contracts.

IV. Financial Impact:

No impact to general fund.
