DATED: 1989

SECTION 1. (a) The annual salary of the following County Officer
is hereby fixed for the period from January 1, 1989 to, and
including, December 31, 1989 at the sum opposite the office and
designation of such County Officer, to wit:

COMMISSIONER OF SOCIAL SERVICES $36,484

(b) On and after the effective date of this Local
Law, the forgoing officer shall be paid at such a rate for the
period from January 1, 1989 to the effective date of this Local Law,
which, when added to amounts paid to such officer during the period
from January 1, 1989 to the effective date of this Local Law, will
equal the annual salary herein fixed for such office for the period
from January 1, 1989 to December 31, 1989.

SECTION 2. This Local Law is subject to a permissive
referendum, and will be submitted to a vote of qualified electors of
the County of Montgomery, if, within 45 days after the date on which
it was so adopted, there is filed with the. Clerk of the Montgomery
County Board of Supervisors a petition protesting against this Local
Law, signed and authenticated as required by Section 24 of the
Municipal Home Rule Law, by qualified electors of Montgomery County
registered to vote therein at the last preceding general election,
in number equal to at least ten per centum of the total number of
votes cast for Governor at the last gubernatorial election held in
said County.
