A local law Establishing a 90-day Residency Requirement for Recipients of Home Relief Coupled with a 90-day Limit on Welfare Home Relief for Able Bodied Recipients
Be it enacted by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Montgomery as follows:
SECTION 1. It is the intent of this Local Law to ease the severe tax burden placed on the real property taxpayers of Montgomery County by the State of New York, which threatens the ability of the County to provide and afford other necessary services to the constituency of the County, by providing that the Commissioner of Social Services shall adopt a 90-day residency requirement in order to be a participant in the Home Relief Program and also to limit the benefits to able-bodied recipients to 90 days .
Section 2. This 90-day residency requirement shall be strictly monitored.
Section 3. The provisions of this Local law shall take effect as provided by law.
