RESOLUTION AMENDING THE 2018 OPERATING BUDGET - 2016 STATEWIDE INTEROPERABLE COMMUNICATIONS GRANT PROGRAM (SHERIFF)

WHEREAS, the Sheriff has been awarded a grant totaling $447,091 from the 2016 SICG Statewide Interoperable Communications Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, the funding has been approved by the State to upgrade Montgomery County's current Microwave system to provide for the ability to better connect to the radio consortium which, the Sheriff's Office E911 center is currently connected to; and
WHEREAS, the radio equipment being purchased is on State Contract; and
WHEREAS, the remainder of the grant funding is to be used at a later date for radio shelters.
RESOLVED, the Montgomery County Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to amend the 2018 Operating Budget as follows:

I. Nature of Request:
To purchase radio equipment to upgrade our current microwave system.
II. Justification:
This radio equipment is needed to provide for a better connection to the current microwave consortium.
III. Legislative Impact:
Pursuant to Article 2 of the Charter the Montgomery County Legislature has the authority to make appropriations.
IV. Financial Impact:
Total cost of equipment is covered by the grand with no match money.
