RESOLUTION TO AMEND 2015 OPERATING BUDGET -- PRESERVE NEW YORK GRANT (HISTORY & ARCHIVES)

WHEREAS, the Preservation League of New York has awarded $10,000 to the Department of History & Archives from the Preserve New York Grant program, and
WHEREAS, said funds will be used to hire a consultant to conduct a cultural resources survey to identify historic resources in rural parts of Western Montgomery County, and
WHEREAS, the Preserve New York Grant Program is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and
WHEREAS, fourteen grants in eleven counties totaling $114,990 were made by the Preserve New York Grant Program in 2015, and
WHEREAS, the Preserve New York Grant Program supports outstanding local preservation projects throughout the state and since 1993, Preserve New York has awarded over $2 million in direct support to 321 projects,
RESOLVED, that the County Treasurer hereby is authorized and directed to amend the 2015 Operating Budget, as follows:

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Executive, upon review and approval of the County Attorney, is hereby authorized and directed to sign all documents, related to acceptance of said grant award.

I. Nature of Request:
Resolution amends department budget for revenue and appropriation of awarded funds.
II. Justification:
This project will serve an important economic development purpose by identifying historic resources and thus establishing a basis for historic designation and the availability of tax credits attendant to such designation.
III. Legislative Impact:
Pursuant to Article 2 of the Charter, the Montgomery County Legislature has the power to make appropriations.
IV. Financial Impact:
In-kind contributions and outside funding will be sought to complete funding for this project.
