RESOLUTION FOR THE REDUCTION OF THE FULL-TIME COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM COORDINATOR POSITION TO A PART-TIME POSITION (PROBATION)

WHEREAS, since 1994, the Probation Department has operated a program of community service for juveniles; and

WHEREAS,  this program involves a directive that Juvenile Delinquents and Persons in Need of Supervision youth perform a specific number of community service hours as a consequence of their illegal and uncontrollable behavior in the community; and

WHEREAS, the program is designed to restore the damage perpetrated by delinquent youth, provide a tangible consequence for their behavior and encourage mature, lawful and competent future actions via the positive role modeling provided by the Coordinator; and

WHEREAS, recently there has been a significant decrease in the number of youth eligible to participate in the Community Service Program and there is no longer a need for a full time employee to manage this program;

RESOLVED, that the position of Community Service Program Coordinator be reduced to a part time position of 16 hours per week effective June 1, 2014 and the compensation for same be in the form of an hourly wage;

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to amend the 2014 Operating Budget as follows:
