RESOLUTION FOR OLD COURTHOUSE NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADE (DATA PROCESSING)

WHEREAS, the state of the current network infrastructure in the Old Courthouse is no longer capable of handling the necessary workload and employees in that building cannot properly perform their job duties, especially Economic Development and Board of Elections, and
WHEREAS, the desktop computers for the four Economic Development employees are outdated and not powerful enough to handle the requirements of their daily work, and
WHEREAS, the current phone system servicing all employees in the Old Courthouse is failing regularly and needs to be maintained with new wiring and/or new phone equipment, and
WHEREAS, it has been recommended by the Director of Data Processing, the Commissioner of Public Works and the Director of Economic Development that the County:
1.) Upgrade key components of the network such as: connect new fiber line from the Annex, run new Ethernet lines to a central wiring closet, purchase new fiber switches, purchase new temperature controlled server rack and other miscellaneous hardware,
2.) Purchase new desktop machines for the Economic Development Employees,
3.) Research and implement a solution to fix the phone system in the Old Courthouse,
RESOLVED, that the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors does hereby approve a transfer from the Appropriated Fund Balance not to exceed $30,000 for all three aspects of this project, and
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to amend the 2013 Operating Budget as follows:
