RESOLUTION AMENDING THE 2022 OPERATING BUDGET REQUESTING ADDITIONAL STOP-DWI FUNDS FOR AFTER PROM PARTIES – (YOUTH)

WHEREAS, the 2022 Operating Budget designates STOP-DWI funds for educational programs; and

WHEREAS, prior to the pandemic, the STOP-DWI Program provided funding to our schools to assist with after prom parties in an effort to keep youth off the roads and in a safe environment after the proms; and 

WHEREAS, with the return of proms and after prom parties, the STOP-DWI Program will partner with the Montgomery County Youth Bureau to provide funding to assist with this years after prom parties to continue efforts in keeping youth safe after the proms.  

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the County Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to amend the 2022 Operating Budget as follows:

INCREASE REVENUES:     
A-32-3-2615  STOP-DWI FINES  $1,250
     
INCREASE APPROPRIATIONS:     
A-32-4-3315-00-4526 EDUCATION PROGRAMS $1,250

Statement of Legislative and Financial Impact:

I. Nature of Request:

Amend the 2022 Operating Budget in order to utilize STOP-DWI funds for Educational Programs.


II. Justification:

Amend the 2022 Operating Budget in order to utilize STOP-DWI funds for Educational Programs.


III. Legislative Impact:

Pursuant to Article 2 of the Charter the Montgomery County Legislature has the power to make appropriations.


IV. Financial Impact:

Increase Revenues $1,250

Increase Appropriations $1,250

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING COUNTY EXECUTIVE TO SIGN NEW YORK STATE ILS (INDIGENT LEGAL SERVICES) GRANT EXTENSION CONTRACT (PUBLIC DEFENDER)

WHEREAS, Resolution Number 279 of 2019 authorized entering into a NYS ILS Grant Distribution 8; and

WHEREAS, NYS ILS Grant Distribution 8 has recently expired; and

WHEREAS, the NYS ILS the requires grant contract extension be signed by the County Executive.

RESOLVED, upon review and approval of the County Attorney, the County Executive is authorized to sign NYS ILS Extension Contract extending the term for NYS ILS Grant Distribution 8 for a term through December 21, 2022.

Statement of Legislative and Financial Impact:

I. Nature of Request:

Authorizing the Montgomery County Executive to sign grant contract extension.


II. Justification:

This resolution is requested in order to assure that the Public Defender's Office will continue to receive NYS ILS reimbursement grant funds.


III. Legislative Impact:

Pursuant to Article 3 of the Montgomery County Charter, the County Executive has the authority to enter into contracts.


IV. Financial Impact:

None.  No cost to County.
