RESOLUTION SETTING PUBLIC HEARING TO DESIGNATE 68 CHURCH STREET CANAJOHARIE NY AS A BROWNFIELD OPPORTUNITY AREA (ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND PLANNING)

WHEREAS, the New York State Department of State may designate Brownfield Opportunity Areas; and
WHEREAS, Montgomery County intends to submit an application to have 68 Church Street in Canajoharie NY, the former Beech-Nut site, designated as a Brownfield Opportunity Area through the Brownfield Opportunity Area Program; and
RESOLVED, that the Montgomery County Legislature hereby schedules a Public Hearing on the submission of the former Beech-Nut site to be designated as a Brownfield Opportunity Area to be held at 6:50 p.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2021 in the Chambers of the County Legislature, County Office Building, Fonda, New York.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Montgomery County Legislature is directed to advertise for the public hearing in the County newspapers; and
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Montgomery County Legislature is further directed to advertise in the County newspapers a notice that Montgomery County is seeking to have 68 Church Street in Canajoharie NY, the former Beech- Nut site, designated as a Brownfield Opportunity Area through the Brownfield Opportunity Area Program.

I. Nature of Request:
RESOLUTION SETTING PUBLIC HEARING TO DESIGNATE 69 CHURCH STREET CANAJOHARIE NY AS A BROWNFIELD OPPORTUNITY AREA.
II. Justification:
Through the BOA Program, brownfields are transformed from liabilities to community assets that generate businesses, jobs and revenues for local economies and provide new housing and public amenities.
III. Legislative Impact:
Authorized pursuant to Article 2 of the Montgomery County Charter.
