DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: These duties involve responsibility for the preparation and cooking of a variety of food. In large kitchens, a cook usually has responsibility for one part of a meal, such as the meat course or vegetables or pastries and desserts. In a small kitchen, a cook may supervise the cooking of an entire meal and in some cases may have charge of the entire kitchen operation. Supervision may be exercised over assistant cooks and/or food service helpers. The incumbent does related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is a professional nursing position in either the County Skilled Nursing Facility, County Public Health Department, County Jail or Social Services and involves responsibility for coordinating individual patient care and for performing nursing services requiring substantial specialized judgment and skills. The work is performed under the general supervision of a supervisory level nursing position and in accordance with a prescribed nursing care plan. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This position involves the investigation and prevention of fraud involving Social Services clients and/or vendors. The incumbent conducts the more difficult and complex field investigations and coordinates the activities of contracted Social Services Investigators. This position involves the coordination of research and field investigation in cases where there is allegation or suspicion of improper amounts of payments, failure to make support payments and attempted or actual welfare fraud along with the coordination of evidence gathering and documentation to develop legally acceptable cases. In addition to supervisory duties, this position is responsible for reviewing applications for assistance, verifying information given by individuals’ and/or vendors and investigating cases in which facts may be concealed or misrepresented. The Social Services Investigative Coordinator coordinates the activities of the investigation unit with the department legal staff. The work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Eligibility or a higher-ranking Examiner with considerable leeway allowed for carrying out the detail of the work of the investigation unit. Performs related work as required.
