Job Title: INDEX RECORDING CLERK - PROVISIONAL

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:  This position exists in the County Clerk’s Office and involves responsibility for indexing and recording various legal documents filed in the County Clerk’s Office.  The duties are performed within the scope of laws, office rules, and procedures relating to indexing, filing, and recording of legal instruments.  Employees in this class may be required to learn how to operate a microfilm camera in making copies of various documents and records.  The work is performed under supervision of the County Clerk with leeway allowed for exercise of independent judgment in carrying out details of the work.  Supervision over the work of others is not a responsibility of employees in this class.  The incumbent does related work as required.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMEN: Applicants must be a legal resident of Montgomery County

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Either:

  1. Graduation from high school or possession of a New York State high school equivalency diploma and two years of clerical experience, one year of which must have involved working with legal instruments in a department of municipal government, a law office, a title company, or a bank; or
  2. Four years of clerical experience, two years of which must have involved working with legal instruments in a department of municipal government, a law office, a title company, or a bank; or
  3. An equivalent combination of training and experience within the limits of A and B above.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:  These duties involve responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of various types of light motor equipment used in construction and repair of County roads and related public works and solid waste management activities.  The work is performed under general supervision in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures.  General instructions are received regarding routine work and detailed or specific instructions are received regarding new or unusual assignments.  The incumbent does related work as required.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: Applicants must be a legal resident of Montgomery County or a Contiguous County

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  One year of experience in the operation of light automotive equipment.

Job Title: MOTOR EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:  This work involves the safe and efficient use of complex special purpose automotive equipment such as a blacktop machine, bulldozed, front-end loader, power grader, power shovel, gradall machine and other material handling equipment.  The position may also require performing additional duties as a member of a work crew.  Greater skills are required than in the operation of other types of equipment, and there is greater responsibility for the safety of others.  The work is performed under the general supervision of a foreman or other higher-ranking public works department employee.  The incumbent does related work as required.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: Applicants must be a legal resident of Montgomery County

PROMOTIONAL QUALIFICATION:  One year of permanent service with Montgomery County Department of Public Works as a Motor Equipment Operator I .

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. One year of experience in the operation of specialized or heavy motor equipment; or
  2. Two years of experience in the operation of lighter automotive equipment; or
  3. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of A and B above.

Job Title: COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM COORDINATOR - PART TIME (PROVISIONAL)

Salary: $19.683/hr PT

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:  This position involves responsibility for the administration, coordination, and supervision of community service sentencing options that serve as an additional sentencing alternative that can be used to increase the likelihood of a fair and appropriate penalty. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Probation.  Wide leeway is allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work.  Direct supervision is exercised over the work of subordinate staff.  The incumbent does related work as required.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: Applicants must be a legal resident of Montgomery County.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Either:

  1. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a two year degree and (2) two years experience or its part-time equivalent in employment and training development or youth service which may include education, one year of which must have included supervision; or
  2. Graduation from high school or possession of high school equivalency diploma and (4) four years of the above experience, one year of which must have included supervision.

SPECIAL REQUIRMENT FOR ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATIONS:

Possession of valid New York State Driver’s License at time of appointment and maintained throughout the course of employment.
