Job Title: REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL NURSE - PART TIME- CONTINUOUS RECRUITMENT

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is a professional nursing position in either the County Skilled Nursing Facility, County Public Health Department, County Jail or Social Services and involves responsibility for coordinating individual patient care and for performing nursing services requiring substantial specialized judgment and skills. The work is performed under the general supervision of a supervisory level nursing position and in accordance with a prescribed nursing care plan. Supervision may be exercised over the work of subordinate nursing personnel The incumbent does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a school of nursing approved by the State Education Department from a course approved by such department as qualifying for Registered Professional Nurse.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATIONS: Possession of a license issued by the State of New York to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse and possession of a New York State driver's license at time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. Job Title: COOK - PT - CONTINUOUS RECRUITMENT
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: These duties involve responsibility for the preparation and cooking of a variety of food. In large kitchens, a cook usually has responsibility for one part of a meal, such as the meat course or vegetables or pastries and desserts. In a small kitchen, a cook may supervise the cooking of an entire meal and in some cases may have charge of the entire kitchen operation. Supervision may be exercised over assistant cooks and/or food service helpers. The incumbent does related work as required.
A. Completion of two year course in Culinary Arts or related field; or
B. One year experience in volume cooking

Job Title: SENIOR SOCIAL WELFARE EXAMINER - PROVISIONAL
Department: SOCIAL SERVICES
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves monitoring and assisting a group of Social Welfare Examiners who establish financial eligibility for the various programs administered by the local social services district, or verify eligibility which includes reviewing the initial financial eligibility determinations. The incumbent, depending on the workload of the unit, can have variable roles, both in overseeing the work of Examiners or a section, and in performing eligibility related functions. The work is performed under general supervision of a higher level Examiner in accordance with prescribed policies and procedures. Direct supervision is exercised over Social Welfare Examiners and clerical support staff. Does related work as required.
TEMPORARY: Position to become permanent upon incumbents change in status and successful completion of a Civil Service Examination, and being reachable on the resulting list.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: Applicant must be a legal resident of Montgomery County or a contiguous county.
Open Competitive: Three years experience in examining, investigating or evaluating claims for assistance, veterans, or unemployment benefits, insurance or a similar program operating under established criteria for eligibility.
Promotional: Must be permanently employed in the Montgomery County Department of Social Services and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for one (1) year preceding the date of the written examination as a Social Welfare Examiner.
NOTE: Study in a regionally accredited college or university or one registered by New York State or a business school registered by New York State may be substituted for two years of the experience on a year for year basis.

Job Title: DIRECTOR OF VETERANS SERVICE AGENCY
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: Under general direction of the County Executive, New York State Division of Veterans’ Affairs and the Veterans Administration, provides information guidance and assistance on all veterans’ rights and benefits such as: health, medical, rehabilitation services, training, educational opportunities, employment, death benefits and requests for service and non-service connected disability payments. Supervision is exercised over one or two clerical personnel. The incumbent does related work as required.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: Applicants must be a legal resident of Montgomery County
Must be a veteran as determined by New York State Statute, Article 17 of Executive Law that defines veteran as someone who served on active duty in the armed forces during a wartime period.
- Possession of Associate’s Degree and two years of administrative experience related to the application of complex rules and regulations and procedures; or
- Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED and have four years of administrative experience related to the application of complex rules and regulations and procedures; or
- Any equivalent combination or training and experience as defined by the limits of A and B above.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT:
Possession of a valid New York State Drivers License at the time of appointment and maintenance of such license throughout the tenure of employment in this position.
Must furnish proof of United States military service ie. a copy of separation papers/discharge papers showing character of service.
Shall take all steps necessary to be accredited as a veterans service organization (VSO) representative within eighteen months of appointment as directed by New York State Statute, Executive Law, Article 17 357 3(b). Accredidation must be maintained throughout employement.
