Known as a pleasant, rural town, the Town of Root includes a population of around 1,750 people. It encompasses 51 square miles, or about 32,000 acres, including perhaps the most picturesque region in the Mohawk Valley: the hills bordering the Mohawk River in the Town of Root rise to 630 feet, with this high point often referred to as “The Noses”.
