A broad range of free
services is available to pregnant women and new moms in Montgomery County. A
nurse offers all first time moms a home visit. During this visit the nurse
gives guidance and information on parenting and baby care. An assessment of the
baby is done. A packet of information is left with the family, offering
information on various health topics, such as, immunizations, family planning,
breastfeeding/ formula preparation and safety issues. Videos on infant care are
also available. The amount of visits provided depends on the needs of the
family. Referrals are made to other agencies as needed.
