Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day

On October 13th, 2007, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm MOSA will hold a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day at the MOSA Western Transfer Station located at 4583 State Route 5S, Sprakers, NY.


Every home has hazardous products that need to be disposed of safely. These items can be hazardous to the environment, animals and our families when they are stockpiled, abandoned or disposed of improperly.

HOUSEHOLDS: To regulate traffic flow, drop-off times are scheduled in 15-minute increments, alphabetically by LAST name.

Typical Household Hazardous Waste Includes:
House and garden pesticides, corrosives, cleaning products, solvents, pool chemicals, paints and stains, adhesives, dry cell batteries, photography and hobby chemicals, aerosols, fluorescent lights, and products containing mercury.

Electronic Collection Includes:

No CHARGE - computer hard drives, printers, keyboards, wire & cables, medical electronics, telephone equipment, and other miscellaneous electronics (i.e. VCR's, radios, DVD & CD players)

$4.00 PER UNIT CHARGE - Computer monitors/Computer Terminals, cathode ray tubes (CRT).

$6.00 PER UNIT CHARGE - TV Sets

Items not accepted Include:
Ammunition and explosives, tires, smoke detectors, motor-oil, lead batteries, gasoline, medication and infectious waste, asbestos, construction and demolition debris, and unsorted waste or non-hazardous recyclable materials ("regular trash").

This collection is open to residents within the Montgomery service area only. Proof of residency includes a picture ID and another document that reasonably proves current residency of service area.

The MOSA facility will cease normal operations at 11:30 AM. Please take note and do not expect to drop off garbage during the Household Hazardous Waste Collection times!
