Is the drinking water safe? There are currently no "Boil water" orders for Montgomery County municipalities. If you are on a private well that has been contaminated you can contact the NY State Department of Health Environmental Office for help at 315-866-6879.

Can I get FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) money? According to the FEMA website (fema.gov) Montgomery County is now eligible for personal assistance. You can call 800-621-3362 to apply for assistance or visit the Disaster Assistance Service Center at the Fonda-Fultonville middle school at 112 Old Johnstown Road in Fonda, New York. You can also apply online at fema.gov.

How can I get more help? Please visit the Disaster Assistance Service Center weekdays between 8AM and 8PM or weekends between 8AM and 5PM, at the Fonda-Fultonville middle school at 112 Old Johnstown Road in Fonda, New York. Many state and local agencies are represented including DSS, FEMA, the Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

How can I dispose of my flood damaged refuse? Villages and Towns are doing continuous curb-side pickup. You can also take refuse to MOSA transfer stations.

Where is the Red Cross shelter located? The Red Cross has a shelter open at the Canajoharie High School on Maple Avenue in Canajoharie, New York. You do not need to be a Canajoharie resident to seek shelter there.

How can I help? The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce is coordinating volunteer efforts. You can call them at 842-8200.

Donations can be made to "Montgomery County Partnership" (Designate it for "Flood Relief Fund") and mailed to PO Box 309, Amsterdam, NY 12010. You can also drop off donations at NBT bank.

How do I report a power outage? Do NOT dial 911! Call National Grid at 800-932-0301

How do I report a telephone outage? Do NOT dial 911! Depending on your service provider, call Frontier at 800-921-8104 or Verizon at 800-275-2355

How do I report a cable outage? Do NOT dial 911! Call Timer Warner at 869-5500
